The Certificate of Insurance may be issued only upon receipt by the Registrar of Ships or the Deputy Registrar of Ships, Jamaica, of the original documents of application and associated Fee. The approval process may commence upon receipt of electronic copies of the Application and related documents as well as the applicable Fee. An Electronic copy of Blue Cards issued by members of the International Group of P& I Clubs will be accepted without the need for originals to be submitted.
The following procedures must be adhered to in general, for a Certificate of Insurance to be issued:
Submit a complete Application for Certificate of Insurance which must include:
Application for Certificate of Insurance or other financial security in respect of civil liability for bunker oil pollution damage - Form JSR078.
A cover note or declaration from the insurance company (Blue Card) confirming
- Name of Ship, IMO Number, Official Number and Port of Registry.
- Name and Principal Place of Business of Registered Owner.
- Name and Principal Place of Business of Insurer or Guarantor.
- Type and Duration of Security.
- A validity which does not expire or cease for any reason other than the expiry of the period of validity insurance or security.
A statement of Certification as follows:
“This is to certify that there is in force in respect of the above-named ship while in above-named ownership a policy of insurance satisfying the requirement of Article 7 of the International Convention for Civil Liability for Bunker Oil Pollution Damage, 2001.”
NB: Only Blue Cards from Approved P&I Clubs or approved issuing companies are acceptable.
- Applicable Fee.
Providing all requirements are met, the Bunker Certificate will be issued for the period of validity reflected on the Blue Card.
