The International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers (STCW and SOLAS 74/78) require the issuance of a Minimum Safe Manning (MSM) Certificate for the manning requirements of the registered ship. Prior to registration, owners must submit their minimum safe manning proposal for approval prior to the issuance of the MSM by the administration.
The MAJ provides the following services as they pertain to the safe manning of ships:
- Muster list approval
- Approval of crew accommodation plans
- Minimum safe crewing document
