Safety and Security of vessels under Jamaica Flag calling or approaching ports/countries where armed/civil conflicts take place

Every vessel shall at all times, maintain a proper lookout by sight and hearing as well as all available means appropriate in the prevailing circumstances and condition so as to make a full appraisal of the situation and of the risk of collision.

With reference to the above subject The Maritime Authority of Jamaica informs that, the date of entry into force of the amended Regulation E-1 and appendix 1 of the Annex to the International Convention for the Control and Management of Ships Ballast Water and Sediments of 2004 (BWM Convention) is the 1^st of June 2022.  

The Maritime Authority of Jamaica wish to inform that in accordance with paragraph 2 of Regulation V/III/1 of the International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers, 1978 (STCW78) as amended¹, for the purpose of preventing drug and alcohol abuse on board Jamaica flagged vessels.
