Preventing Drug and alcohol abuse on board Jamaica flagged vessels

The Maritime Authority of Jamaica wish to inform that in accordance with paragraph 2 of Regulation V/III/1 of the International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers, 1978 (STCW78) as amended1, for the purpose of preventing drug and alcohol abuse on board Jamaica flagged vessels.

Amendments of 2018 to the Code of the Maritime Labour Convention, 2006

Under the tacit acceptance procedure, of the Amendments of 2018 to the Code of the Maritime Labour Convention, 2006 which were approved by the 107th Session of the International Labour Conference, in accordance with Article XV of the Convention which sets out the simplified amendment procedure adopted in respect of the Convention. The amendments will enter into force on 26 December 2020. The full text of the amendments is hereby attached.
