Resolution MEPC 325(75) - Amendments to the International Convention for the Control and Management of Ships' Ballast Water and Sediments

With reference to the above subject The Maritime Authority of Jamaica informs that, the date of entry into force of the amended Regulation E-1 and appendix 1 of the Annex to the International Convention for the Control and Management of Ships Ballast Water and Sediments of 2004 (BWM Convention) is the 1st of June 2022.

Preventing Drug and alcohol abuse on board Jamaica flagged vessels

The Maritime Authority of Jamaica wish to inform that in accordance with paragraph 2 of Regulation V/III/1 of the International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers, 1978 (STCW78) as amended1, for the purpose of preventing drug and alcohol abuse on board Jamaica flagged vessels.

Maritime Authority of Jamaica’s guidance and instructions on arrangements

International Maritime Organization (IMO) conventions (i.e. SOLAS, MARPOL, Load Line, and COLEGs) have a number of rules and regulations which do not prescribe arrangements but there remains a specific requirement for the arrangement be ‘to the satisfaction of the Administration’.
